Recommended Books
Rather than providing a long list of books, I have decided only to include those books which I have habitually used
as a careers adviser. It should be noted, however, that with the exception of What Colour is your Parachute,
these books were written with the UK market in mind.
CV writing
-
Readymade CVs - sample CVs for Every Type of Job by Lynn Williams
Probably the best book ever written on creating CV's
Job-hunting
-
The London Jobhunter's Guide by Tim Gough
Mainly recruitment agencies in London; from 2003/2004, but still useful.
-
What Colour is your Parachute? by Richard Nelson Bolles
If you know what you want to do, and have created your cv, this book will help you find work.
Very good psychologically, but do be aware of the occasional Americanisms.
Higher Education courses
-
Degree Course Offers by Brian Heap
Various resources for those applying for university, including
required admission grades, potential interview questions, what different subject tutors are looking for.
